Thew Associates awarded a term contract with Watershed Agricultural Council.
The Watershed Agricultural Council (WAC), headquartered in Walton, New York, recently awarded term contracts to Catskill Region Surveying Services (CRSS), Rasmussen Land Surveyors, PLLC, and Thew Associates PE-LS, PLLC to provide professional surveying and mapping services for the acquisition of conservation and forestry easements within the New York City Watershed.
Since inception in 1993, the WAC’s mission has been to protect water quality within the New York City Watershed, while simultaneously preserving the working farms and forests within the Watershed. Agriculture and Forestry play an integral role in the local economies within the Watershed, and through the WAC’s partnership with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), hundreds of farmers have secured conservation easements on their lands to preserve the local heritage, perpetuate the region’s conservation principles, and stabilize the agricultural economy.
We recently had the pleasure to meet the Watershed Agricultural Council staff and learn about their agriculture and forestry conservation programs. The WAC staff are truly committed to protecting water quality while balancing the needs of the residents of the region. Thew Associates is excited to begin building our professional relationship with the WAC and facilitate the acquisition of additional conservation easements.
